Managed IT

Managed IT services for small New Hampshire businesses

We look after the computers, servers and networks your business runs on, so you are not the one noticing a failed backup or an expired licence.

What it covers

What managed IT actually includes

Managed IT is an ongoing arrangement rather than a call-out. We monitor the equipment your business depends on, apply updates, keep antivirus and licensing current, verify that backups actually restore, and handle the day-to-day requests your staff raise.

The practical difference is who notices a problem first. Under a break-fix arrangement you notice, usually at the worst moment. Under a managed arrangement the monitoring notices, often before anyone is affected.

Who it suits

Who this is for

Most of our clients are local organisations with roughly 1 to 50 staff: law firms, auto shops, medical and dental practices, co-ops, nonprofits and municipal offices. Businesses that depend on their systems but are not large enough to employ full-time IT staff.

If you have one person who is good with computers and has quietly become the IT department, managed IT is usually what replaces that arrangement.

On site

On-site and remote together

Some problems are resolved remotely in minutes. Others need somebody physically present with a cable tester or a replacement drive. We do both, and we are close enough to the towns we serve that on-site is a realistic option rather than a last resort.

Our base is Newport, and we routinely travel through Sullivan County and the Upper Valley. See the service area for the towns we cover on site.

What else we handle

Managed IT often sits alongside the other work we do: VoIP phone systems, cybersecurity, backup and disaster recovery, Microsoft 365, and fiber and network cabling. Having one company responsible for all of it removes a lot of finger-pointing when something breaks.

Cost

How it is priced, and what drives it

Managed IT is normally a recurring monthly arrangement rather than an hourly rate, because the point is that work happens before you notice a problem. What drives the figure is the number of people, the number of servers, and how much of the estate is old enough to need regular attention.

We will tell you plainly if a monthly arrangement does not make sense for you. A two-person office with two laptops and cloud email usually does not need one; a twelve-person practice with a server, a phone system and patient records almost always does.

Onboarding

What the first month looks like

The first job is finding out what you actually have. That means an inventory of machines, servers, network equipment, licences and who has access to what. It is common to discover a licence nobody is using, a backup that stopped a year ago, or an account belonging to someone who left.

After that we fix what is urgent, document the rest, and move to the steady rhythm of monitoring, patching and verification. Most of the uncomfortable discoveries happen in the first few weeks, which is the point of doing it deliberately rather than during an incident.

Working together

What we expect from you

Two things make the arrangement work. Tell us before you change something significant, and give us a route to the people who make decisions. Most IT problems that become expensive were known about by somebody for weeks beforehand.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between managed IT and calling someone when something breaks?

Managed IT is ongoing: monitoring, patching and backup checks happen whether or not anything is wrong, and most problems are caught before they interrupt work. Break-fix means you call after the interruption has already happened.

Do you support businesses with only a handful of computers?

Yes. Most of our clients have between 1 and 50 staff. There is no minimum size that makes managed support worthwhile; it depends on how much the business depends on its systems.

Can you work alongside an existing IT person?

Yes. Some clients have someone in-house who handles day-to-day questions and bring us in for servers, networks, phone systems or radio work.

Do you provide 24/7 support?

We answer IT emergencies around the clock on 603.477.1783. Routine requests are handled during business hours.
